Post Lehman galleries 2018

In the Post Lehman sector, galleries founded after September 15, 2008 – the day the investment bank Lehman Brothers had to file for bankruptcy as a result of the financial crisis – present themselves. The financial crisis also meant a turning point for the art market: worldwide turnover in the art market collapsed from USD 62 billion in 2008 to USD 39.5 billion in 2009 (see Art Basel Market Report 2018).

Art Düsseldorf would particularly like to support the young galleries that dared to set up a new business despite the precarious global economic situation by offering reduced booth prices. In addition, the jury consisting of Oriane Durand, Director of the Dortmunder Kunstverein, Moritz Scheper, Artistic Director of the Neuer Essener Kunstverein, and Maurice Funken, Director of the Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, honours the best Post Lehman booth presentation that will also receive a 50% discount on the stand fee.
